One of the first desserts I learned how to make were "Magic bars." I would take them to bake sales, family gatherings, and work parties. My husband loved them so much that he started making them himself for our family. I didn't want to burst his bubble and tell him it technically wasn't "his" recipe, as you can find the recipe on the back of the can of condensed milk! Magic bars are so good, though, I kept my mouth shut in fear he'd stop making them! But this year, I decided to reclaim "my" original recipe and put some fun twists on it. For the crust, I used Honey Nut Cheerios in place of traditional graham crackers. In addition to semi-sweet chocolate chips, I added salted caramel chips and peanut butter chips. My baking experiment taught me it's fun to take a classic and remake it into an original!
