The end of July brings hot temps to our Mid-West state. In fact, I think it's warmer here in Michigan than it was in Florida last week! I thought I'd make a refreshing Blackberry Daiquiri to sip on the patio while I'm basking in the sun with the dogs. This Blackberry Daiquiri is a slight change up from a Traditional Strawberry Daiquiri. A mix of blackberries and strawberries gives it the perfect sweet and tangy combo. I love sipping on this drink while I relax and put my feet up on a lazy weekend.
I used spiced rum in this recipe, since It makes me feel like I'm on a tropical island with palm trees and a breeze blowing gently in my face. But use whichever type of rum you desire. You can omit the rum and have a delicious non-alcoholic slush for a kid-friendly version of this recipe.
I hope you're having a fabulous summer and staying cool in the heat. Here's how I made this refreshing Blackberry Daiquiri Recipe:
Ingredients: 1 cup blackberries; 1/4 cup strawberries; 1 ounce spiced rum; 3 tablespoons lime juice; 1 tablespoon lemon juice; 1/4 cup white sugar; 1/2 cup ice cubes
Directions: Place the rum, lime juice, and lemon juice in the bottom of a blender. Rinse the fruit and pat it dry with a paper towel. Cut the tops off the strawberries and slice them in half. Add to the blender, along with the sugar. Add the ice. Blend for 3-5 minutes, or until smooth. Serves 2.
