January is such a cold month here in Michigan. I often joke I feel like a bear hibernating in winter! When it does warm up, it's usually raining and we're still stuck inside. Oh well! More time for baking! This week, we decided to make this Heath Klondike Bar Trifle. Klondike bars come in so many delicious flavors, I had a hard time choosing. Health Bars are a hit at our house, though, so this flavor was the unanimous vote! We combined delicious Heath Ice cream bars and tasty Heath candy bars for this delicious chocolate-toffee ice cream trifle. This dessert might make me appreciate our cold winters a little more!
Here's how we made this Heath Klondike Bar Trifle:
Six Klondike Heath bars; one package devil's food cake mix or prepare our recipe for devil's food cake; one 8 ounce container Cool Whip; one small jar caramel sundae topping; one full-sized Heath Bar.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare cake according to package directions or prepare our cake mix (see link above). Allow cake to cool completely. Cut about 1/4 of the cake into squares to fill the bottom of the trifle dish. Cut 3 of the Heath Klondike bars into squares. Layer on top of the cake. Spread 1/2 the container of Cool Whip over top. Repeat layers. (you will have about 1/2 the cake left. Never a bad thing!) Spoon caramel sundae topping over the top of the trifle. Garnish with crushed Heath Bar pieces.
